An Ideal Complement to Chiropractic Care

Massage and chiropractic work very well together because they’re both musculoskeletal approaches to health care. While chiropractic care primarily targets the alignment of the spine and the function of joints and nervous system, massage therapy focuses on reducing muscle tension and improving circulation.

By addressing muscle tension, massage therapy can ease the strain on the spine and joints, enhancing the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments. Additionally, improved blood flow from massage can aid in the healing and proper functioning of these areas.

Molly

Molly’s path to massage therapy began after a difficult hip surgery left her in debilitating pain with little relief in sight. A friend offered her a massage during that time, and the experience was life-changing, the most effective pain relief she had found. That moment set her on an entirely new path.

After recovering, Molly went on to earn her Associate of Applied Science in East and West Therapeutic Bodywork, studying Shiatsu, trigger point therapy, deep tissue, therapeutic Swedish massage, cupping, moxibustion, and craniosacral work. She has since been attuned to Reiki as well, adding an intuitive layer to her practice. Molly blends these modalities together to meet each client where they are and lets their body guide the session.

When she’s not practicing, or working part time at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Molly is usually outdoors, whether that’s walking her cats, kayaking, or hiking. Being outside and connected to the earth is what keeps her grounded, and it inspires everything she brings to her work

Sue

A 2002 graduate of Sister Rosalind’s School of Massage, Sue has spent years cultivating a practice rooted in calm, compassion, and intuitive care. She creates a nurturing space where the mind, body, and soul can soften, release tension, and move toward deeper healing.

Techniques Offered

Our practice offers a variety of massage techniques, each suited to different needs and stages of life. Here’s a closer look at what each one involves.

  • Deep Tissue: Deep tissue massage uses firm, focused pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Slow strokes and sustained pressure work to release tension and improve mobility. It’s a great fit for chronic tightness, athletes, or anyone dealing with longstanding tension or the effects of repetitive strain.
  • Lymphatic: Lymphatic massage is a gentle, rhythmic technique designed to support the body’s natural lymphatic system. Using light pressure and directional strokes, it encourages healthy lymph flow to help the body manage waste and inflammation. This technique can be especially helpful for post-surgical swelling, fluid retention, or general detox support.
  • Prenatal: Prenatal massage is tailored specifically for pregnancy, using gentle pressure and side-lying positioning to accommodate a changing body. It’s designed to ease common discomforts like low-back pain, hip tension, and swelling, offering relief and relaxation throughout pregnancy.
  • Postnatal: Postnatal massage supports the body’s recovery after childbirth. It addresses the tension that builds from nursing, carrying, and postpartum posture, while also promoting lymphatic drainage and core recovery. New mothers often find it helpful for neck and shoulder tension, low-back pain, and postpartum muscular strain.
  • Sports: Sports massage is performance-focused, combining deep pressure, stretching, and targeted techniques to help the body prepare for activity or recover afterward. It’s a popular choice for athletes and active individuals looking to improve mobility, ease soreness, and enhance performance.
  • Craniosacral Therapy: Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on the craniosacral system, the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Using light touch, it aims to release restrictions in the nervous system, promoting a deep sense of relaxation. Many find it a soothing option for headaches, stress, chronic pain, or general nervous system tension.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during a session?

You’ll have a personalized session where you can communicate your needs to the therapist. Depending on your preferences and requirements, sessions can last 30, 60, or 90 minutes, focusing on specific areas of concern and interconnected muscle groups to provide comprehensive relief and relaxation.

Does insurance cover this service?

Coverage varies, so it’s important to check with your insurance provider. While many plans do not directly cover massage therapy, some may offer reimbursement options. Our practice can assist with benefits verification to clarify your coverage.

Are there any risks associated with this type of bodywork?

While massage therapy is generally safe, we conduct thorough screenings to identify any contraindications. The most common side effect is temporary soreness, as the therapy can activate underused muscles or areas recovering from injury.
